These are the interstitial places that act as physical and conceptual middle grounds or areas of negotiation which represent the complexities of contradiction of simply thinking of the nation  in unitary terms.

Think of the immense interplay and contradictions that take place in the name of nationalism, privatization, neo-liberalism, imperialism and globalisation.

Think of the massive surge of rural to urban migration and the immense levels of urban poverty this has resulted in. Our slums are often looked down upon, but they are the manifestations of these contradictions at work.

An In-Between place is any spatial, conceptual or practical expression of this interplay of concepts and ideas.

One could think of the utilization of the blogosphere in this locale as an expression of this.

The only limits are interpretation. It is time for us to take a closer look at these middle spaces and find out what they really mean.
